Mafaz Global Solutions (MGS) provides comprehensive services to promote awareness of migrants’ rights and improve access to information, justice, and protection across the Horn of Africa. Migrants often face significant barriers to accessing justice, including lack of information about their rights, language barriers, legal costs, discrimination, fear of detention or deportation, and limited availability of legal aid and support services. These barriers leave migrants vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and denial of fundamental rights. Our services are designed to address these challenges by promoting rights awareness, strengthening legal and policy frameworks, improving access to justice mechanisms, and building the capacity of institutions and actors responsible for protecting migrants’ rights. We work with governments, international organizations, civil society, communities, and migrants themselves to design and implement responses that are rights-based, evidence-driven, and locally owned. Our approach recognizes that protecting migrants’ rights requires coordinated action across legal, institutional, and community levels, and that migrants must be empowered to claim their rights and seek redress for violations.
Rights Awareness Services
MGS designs and implements rights awareness campaigns that inform migrants, communities, and stakeholders about the rights of migrants under international, regional, and national law. Our services include community awareness sessions and outreach campaigns, printed and visual awareness materials, radio and digital information platforms, peer-to-peer information networks, engagement with religious and community leaders, legal literacy programs, and awareness campaigns targeting at-risk populations. We serve migrants, potential migrants, communities in migration-prone areas, youth, women, and other at-risk groups. All information is culturally appropriate, linguistically accessible, and tailored to the needs of different audiences, ensuring that migrants have the knowledge they need to understand and claim their rights.
Legal and Policy Analysis Services
MGS conducts legal and policy analysis to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for reform in laws and policies affecting migrants’ rights. Our services include analysis of national and regional legal frameworks, assessment of compliance with international human rights standards, identification of barriers to access to justice, development of policy recommendations, support for legal reform processes, and comparative analysis of migration laws and practices. We serve governments and policy makers, international organizations and donors, legal practitioners, and civil society organizations. Our analysis is grounded in international human rights law and the principle that all migrants, regardless of status, are entitled to protection, dignity, and respect.
Access to Justice Services
MGS works to improve access to justice for migrants by strengthening legal aid and support mechanisms. Our services include support for legal aid programs, facilitation of access to legal representation, assistance with legal documentation and administrative processes, support for alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, coordination with legal practitioners and bar associations, development of legal referral pathways, and support for migrants seeking redress for rights violations. We serve migrants, including those in detention, victims of exploitation and abuse, women and children, and other vulnerable groups. Our approach is rights-based and survivor-centered, ensuring that migrants have access to the legal support and representation they need to claim their rights.
Institutional Capacity Development Services
MGS strengthens the capacity of institutions and actors responsible for protecting migrants’ rights. Our services include training for government officials, law enforcement, border officials, and judicial actors on migrant rights and protection, capacity development for legal aid providers and civil society organizations, institutional strengthening for human rights institutions, development of standard operating procedures for rights-based responses, support for coordination mechanisms, and mentorship and technical assistance. We serve government institutions and officials, law enforcement and border agencies, judicial actors, legal aid providers, and civil society organizations. Capacity development is designed to improve coordination, enhance skills, and build systems that can effectively protect and uphold migrants’ rights.
Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement Services
MGS engages in advocacy and stakeholder engagement to promote migrants’ rights and influence policy and practice. Our services include advocacy for legal and policy reform, engagement with policymakers and decision-makers, coalition building and coordination among stakeholders, support for civil society advocacy initiatives, engagement with regional and international mechanisms, documentation of rights violations and advocacy campaigns, and support for migrant-led advocacy initiatives. We serve governments and policy makers, international organizations, civil society organizations, and migrant communities. Our advocacy is grounded in evidence and human rights principles, and is designed to create lasting change in policies, practices, and attitudes affecting migrants’ rights.
Research, Documentation and Knowledge Services
MGS generates evidence on migrants’ rights and access to justice in the Horn of Africa. Our research informs programme design, policy development, and advocacy at local, national, and regional levels. We use qualitative and quantitative methods to produce timely, actionable evidence that supports decision-making and improves access to justice outcomes. Our services include research on rights violations and access to justice barriers, documentation of best practices and lessons learned, legal and policy analysis, evidence generation and dissemination, knowledge products and dissemination, and engagement with policymakers and stakeholders. We serve governments and policy makers, international organizations and donors, research institutions and universities, and civil society organizations.
