What We Do

SAFE AND REGULAR MIGRATION

Mafaz Global Solutions (MGS) provides comprehensive safe and regular migration services across the Horn of Africa. Our services are designed to protect migrants, promote informed decision-making, expand legal migration pathways, and strengthen migration governance systems. We work with governments, international organizations, civil society, communities, and migrants themselves to ensure that migration is safe, orderly, regular, and dignified. Our approach recognizes that migration is a normal and often positive feature of human development, but that it becomes dangerous and destructive when the pathways available are irregular, unregulated, and exploitative.

Migration Awareness and Information Services

MGS provides accurate, timely, and accessible information about migration pathways, risks, rights, and available services to potential migrants, their families, and communities. We design and deliver awareness campaigns that address the realities of irregular migration while promoting safe and regular alternatives. Our services include community awareness sessions and outreach campaigns, radio and digital information platforms, printed and visual awareness materials, peer-to-peer information networks, information hubs and help desks, engagement with religious and community leaders, school-based awareness programs, and awareness campaigns targeting families of potential migrants. We serve potential migrants and their families, youth at risk of irregular migration, communities in migration-prone areas, and returning migrants and returnees. All information is culturally appropriate, linguistically accessible, and tailored to the needs of different audiences.

Safe and Regular Migration Pathway Support

MGS supports the expansion of safe, regular, and orderly migration pathways for youth and vulnerable populations across the Horn of Africa. We work with governments, employers, and international partners to ensure that migration pathways are accessible, rights-based, and protective of migrant workers. Our services include promotion of labor migration opportunities, skills development and certification for overseas employment, support for ethical recruitment practices, information on legal migration procedures, engagement with employers and recruitment agencies, support for family reunification processes, advocacy for expanded legal pathways, and support for bilateral and regional labor migration agreements. We serve youth seeking legal migration opportunities, migrant workers and labor migrants, families seeking reunification, and employers and recruitment agencies committed to ethical practices.

Migration Governance and Policy Support

MGS provides technical assistance, policy analysis, and capacity development to governments and institutions seeking to strengthen migration governance frameworks, policies, and systems. Our work aligns with regional and international frameworks, including the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, the African Union Migration Policy Framework, and the IGAD Regional Migration Policy Framework. Our services include policy analysis and development support, institutional capacity assessments, technical assistance to government institutions, migration data collection and management, coordination and stakeholder engagement, support for regional and bilateral dialogue, alignment with international migration frameworks, and support for national migration strategies. We serve government ministries and agencies, regional bodies and institutions, international organizations, and policy makers and stakeholders.

Community-Based Prevention Services

MGS works with communities to address the drivers of irregular migration and reduce the risks associated with unsafe journeys. We engage community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and local institutions to raise awareness, build resilience, and create local opportunities that reduce the pressure to migrate irregularly. Our services include community dialogue and engagement, youth empowerment and local opportunity creation, livelihood support and skills development, engagement of community and religious leaders, community-based early warning and protection systems, local awareness and prevention campaigns, support for youth-led initiatives, and community mobilization against irregular migration. We serve communities in migration-prone areas, youth and women’s groups, community leaders and local institutions, and local civil society organizations.

Stakeholder Coordination Services

MGS facilitates coordination among stakeholders working on migration in the Horn of Africa. We support information-sharing, joint planning, and collaborative action to ensure that migration responses are coherent, effective, and protection-focused. Coordination is essential to avoid duplication, maximize resources, and ensure that interventions reach those most in need. Our services include facilitation of coordination meetings and platforms, information-sharing and knowledge management, joint planning and programme alignment, support for referral pathways and service coordination, engagement with regional and international networks, cross-border coordination and cooperation, documentation of good practices and lessons learned, and support for national and regional strategies. We serve governments and institutions, UN agencies and international organizations, civil society and community-based organizations, and regional and international networks.

Migration Research and Analysis Services

MGS generates evidence on migration trends, drivers, routes, and protection risks in the Horn of Africa. Our research informs programme design, policy development, and advocacy at local, national, and regional levels. We use qualitative and quantitative methods to produce timely, actionable evidence that supports decision-making and improves migration outcomes. Our services include migration trend analysis and mapping, research on smuggling and trafficking dynamics, protection risk assessments, labour market and skills gap analysis, community perception and behaviour studies, policy and legal analysis, knowledge products and dissemination, and engagement with policymakers and stakeholders. We serve governments and policy makers, international organizations and donors, research institutions and universities, and civil society organizations.

Capacity Development and Training Services

MGS designs and delivers tailored training and capacity-building initiatives for government institutions, civil society organizations, community leaders, frontline actors, and other stakeholders working on migration. Our services include training on migration governance and policy, capacity development for government officials, training for civil society organizations, community leader and frontline actor training, training on migrant rights and protection, institutional strengthening support, mentorship and technical assistance, and development of training materials and tools. We serve government institutions and officials, civil society organizations, community leaders and frontline actors, and international and national NGOs. Our capacity-development approach combines technical knowledge with practical application, organizational strengthening, and locally relevant solutions.

Protection and Assistance Services

MGS provides protection-oriented services for vulnerable migrants and people exposed to exploitation, abuse, and other protection risks. We work to strengthen protection mechanisms, improve access to services, and ensure that vulnerable migrants receive the assistance they need. Our services include protection mechanism strengthening, referral systems development, access to appropriate services, community-based support, protection awareness, coordination among relevant stakeholders, support for vulnerable migrants in transit, and assistance for women, children, and other at-risk groups. We serve vulnerable migrants in transit, women and girls in migration, unaccompanied and separated children, and victims of trafficking and exploitation. Our approach is rights-based, survivor-centered, and community-driven.

Service Outcomes

Through our safe and regular migration services, MGS aims to achieve increased awareness among potential migrants and communities about safe and regular migration options, expanded access to safe, regular, and rights-based migration pathways, strengthened migration governance frameworks and institutional capacity, reduced vulnerability of migrants to smuggling, trafficking, and exploitation, improved coordination among migration stakeholders, enhanced evidence base to inform migration policy and programming, increased community resilience and reduced pressure to migrate irregularly, and improved protection and assistance for vulnerable migrants.
